The race starts off in the east of the country in the city of Woodbridge for a first day that will suit the sprinters and only the sprinters. With a finale in Southwold after 161 kilometers, the riders won't find a single obstacle in their way to crown the first race leader.
Stage 2: Stowmarket - Stowmarket
Stage 2: Stowmarket - Stowmarket, 169.5 kilometers
Stage 2 of the race is not too different from the opening day, a day with no climbing whatsoever where a bunch sprint is inevitable - unless there are some weird tactics at play. The stage features a full loop around the city of Stowmarket that will host the start and finish of the stage.
Stage 3: Milton Keynes - Ampthill
Stage 3: Milton Keynes - Ampthill, 122.9 kilometers
The third day of the race will start off in Milton Keynes and finish very nearby in Ampthill. It's a short stage which also does not feature any meaningful climb that could disrupt a potential sprint. There will only be 122 kilometers to race, making it a very explosive stage that should be rather fast.
Stage 4: Atherstone - Burton Dassett
Stage 4: Atherstone - Burton Dasset, 187.1 kilometers
The fourth day of racing finally sees some climbing, the riders start off the day in Atherstone, close to Birmingham, and head south towards Burton Dasset where they will finish the stage. This could be an important day for the overall classification, and we could see different race situations unfold as well.
The peloton will tackle a three-lap circuit towards the end of the stage, which will feature a hilltop finish. The peloton will have to go through the 900-meter climb which averages over 7% and coincides with the finish line, but before doing so there will be another very steep hilltop where we can see some interesting moves.
Stage 5: Pontypool - The Tumble
Stagr 5: Pontypool - The Tumble, 131.7 kilometers
The queen stage of the race sees the riders fully on Welsh territory, and it will be a day for the climbers and puncheurs to fight for the win. Stage 5 starts in Pontypool and follows rolling roads until the double ascent of 'The Tumble'.
The final climb, which will be ridden first with 48 kilometers to go, is 5.5 kilometers long at 7.3%. This is where the biggest gaps of the race can be made and it's a very exposed climb, where the elements can also play a big role in the outcome of the day.
Stage 6: Newport - Cardiff
Stage 6: Newport - Cardiff, 111.8 kilometers
The race will finish off in Wales with a stage starting in Newport, just outside the Geraint Thomas velodrome where a tribute is expected to one of the country's most successful racers ever. The stage is definitely not flat and on Welsh roads the winner could still be different.
This is because the hilly day sees a very steep climb towards the end of the day. Before the flat finale in Cardiff, the riders will ascent Caerphily Mountain, 1.3 kilometers at 9.6% in which we could see race-defining attacks.
