Uno-X Mobility's
Alexander Kristoff has sprinted to victory on stage 2 of the 2025
Arctic Race of Norway, taking his 98th pro win in the process, edging him ever closer to a landmark 100th before his retirement at the end of this season.
Heading into the final 65km, five riders were out ahead of the peloton with a Norwegian quartet that included the highly rated youngster Storm Ingebrigtsen joined by Kiwi Josh Burnett of the Burgos Burpellet BH team. With 30km to go, the writing was starting to look on the wall for the break, with the peloton closing into just over a minute down. The break didn't go down without a fight, but with around 15km to go they were all swallowed up by the bunch.
That catch didn't immediately stop the attacking at the front though, and heading into the final 10km of the day, Abram Stockman was dangling clear of the bunch by 10 seconds. The next move then came from Picnic PostNL's Kevin Vermaerke with the American a solo leader by 15 seconds as he passed through 6km to go. He too was caught before the finale.
It was then, as expected, a bunch finale that decided the day in Sørreisa. Despite a crash towards the front of the bunch in the finale, the experienced Alexander Kristoff used all his nous to avert any disaster and power to the win at the line ahead of
Tom van Asbroeck.
