Pinarello is a bike brand that like only a few others, are closely associated and always remembered by their partnership with one team: INEOS Grenadiers (the formerly known Team Sky). However that is now not only the case as the Italian bike brand will extend its sponsorship to Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, much due to Tom Pidcock's influence.
The Swiss team signed Pidcock last year, but it was a very late move, and the deal with Scott bikes - another top brand - had already been agreed on. Pidcock changed from Pinarello from back in his INEOS days to Scott, but in Mountain Biking he struck a deal to continue racing with the Pinarello bikes - which he has ridden to success, as has happened in the past at the Olympic Games on two different occasions. The team's goals have changed significantly this year with Pidcock's entry.
The man behind all of these market moves is Ivan Glasenberg, a billionaire who has bought major stakes in both the Q36.5 clothing brand and in Pinarello. The established influence over both brands translates into deals for the team, which ultimately end up securing its future. The team's budget has increased exponentially for the second winter in a row now, signing not only Pidcock but now in 2025 several more World Tour riders.
"I'm really happy to be back on Pinarello full time. It genuinely feels like coming home," Pidcock said in a press release. "I've always loved riding their bikes, and over the years I've built such a strong relationship with the brand. It's the perfect reunion,"
Team owner Doug Ryder added: "Having Pinarello as Title Sponsor is a huge honour. Their history, passion and technical excellence will elevate our riders, and our ambitions, for the coming seasons." Whilst Pinarello's CEO Fausto equally shared the happiness with the collaboration: "This partnership is more than a sponsorship – it's a shared vision. We're proud to take this step and bring the Pinarello name back to the front of the peloton as Title Sponsor. Together with Q36.5, we'll continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in cycling."
