Nairo Quintana to UAE Team Emirates? "I would love to" Matxin says

With the transfer season in an all-time high level of communications, one transfer that is now within the realm of possibility and comes as a surprise is the possible move of Nairo Quintana to UAE Team Emirates.

Despite the functional and strong collaboration over the last few years it seems likely that the Colombian will not stay with Arkéa Samsic into it's first season as World Tour level, and between the teams rumoured to be hosting the Colombian veteran for the coming year is UAE Team Emirates.

In an interview with Caracol Radio, team manager Joxean Matxin has said that “I would love to have Nairo Quintana in the UAE Team Emirates," a revelation that comes as a surprise for the team of Tadej Pogacar and João Almeida.

"They [Arkéa Samsic] have offered him to us and he is a rider that I really like. I have spoken with him and I have a very special feeling with Nairo," he explained. With the likes of AG2R Citröen Team and possible B&B Hotels-KTM - with their newly-increased budget - having the means, the fight for the Colombian's services can get quite spicy in the coming weeks.
