Mikel Landa leads powerful Soudal - Quick-Step at Volta a Catalunya 2025

The Volta a Catalunya 2025 takes place from March 24-30, and will feature a star-studded lineup. Among them is a Mikel Landa who has been announced by Soudal - Quick-Step as the leader of its lineup.
The veteran Basque rider will face rivals like Juan Ayuso, who comes from winning the Tirreno Adriatico where Landa was also present, and Primoz Roglic. Jonas Vingegaard was also going to be there, but his crash in Paris-Nice has left him out of the Spanish race.
Alongside Mikel Landa, Soudal Quick-Step's lineup consists of the following riders: Valentin Paret-Peintre, who will be the second leader of the Belgian team, Gianmarco Garofoli, Ethan Hayter, James Knox, William Junior Lecerf and Pieter Serry.
Before facing the Volta a Catalunya, Mikel Landa assesses his form after finishing 7th overall in Tirreno Adriatico: “I had a very good outing in Catalunya last year, and I look forward to doing it again. I have a pretty good shape and I am confident going into the race. There will be a lot of strong riders fighting for the general classification, which is good because many of them will also be at the Giro d’Italia, so it’s going to be a nice opportunity to see where I am and continue to build up my shape for May.”
“The course is more or similar to what we are used to. La Molina will be an incredibly hard stage, with around 5000 meters of climbing, but also the other days in the mountains will take their toll on the riders. We could have a couple of sprint opportunities, but this remains to be seen. Mikel comes to the start after a very good Tirreno-Adriatico and he has a strong team around him as he tries to do a good general classification, but we want to see what Ethan can do in the sprints. It’s a solid team and we are looking forward to the week there”, adds Souda - Quick-Step sports director Geert Van Bondt.

- In Track and Field, there's Usain Bolt in the sprints and Kenya's Kipchoge in the marathon. Though Bolt can quite easily beat Kipchoge in the 100m dash, he probably won't even finish a marathon. Tadej won't beat Mathieu in a sprint, yet he wins the TDF while MVDP languishes in 50th place. - VDP is best in a short sprint, so Pog was purposely leaving a gap in hopes that VDP wouldn't have enough to sprint for 310 meters at the end of 300 KM. Kwiatkowski did the same thing to Sagan at that same point and won because of it.acem8223-03-2025
