Miguel Ángel López is the best Colombian in the UCI rankings after his dominant Vuelta a Colombia

The UCI rankings continue to undergo important changes before the start of the Tour de France on July 1. The most outstanding news for Colombia comes from Miguel Angel 'Superman' Lopez, who achieved a significant rise thanks to his victory in the recent performances at the Vuelta a Colombia.

On this occasion, the Team Medellin rider climbed seven positions after the last update, ranking 41st, making him the highest ranked Colombian in the world rankings. He also surpasses renowned riders such as Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen and Briton Tao Geoghegan Hart, the latter being the 2020 Giro d'Italia champion.

Although the Vuelta a Colombia is not included in the UCI category (the most important in world cycling), Lopez managed to score the necessary points to overtake Santiago Buitrago and Sergio Higuita, who occupy the 44th and 47th positions in the UCI ranking, respectively.

On the other hand, there are two other Colombian cyclists who are part of the top 100 of the world ranking. They are Einer Rubio, who is ranked 64th, and Rigoberto Urán, who remained in 82nd place.

As the Tour de France approaches, Tadej Pogačar remains the top rider in the UCI rankings with a total of 6,612 points. The Slovenian starts as one of the big favourites in the "Grande Boucle", as well as Belgian Wout Van Aert and Danish Jonas Vingegaard. The two leaders of the Jumbo-Visma team remain third and fourth in the ranking, respectively. Remco Evenepoel remains in second place in the world rankings.
