Julian Alaphilippe will lead France in hunt for medals at their home Olympic Games

The long-awaited has been confirmed and we finally know for (almost) certain which four names will represent the host country at the Olympic Games in Paris.

It's been speculated in long advance that the spearhead of French lineup should be the two-time world champion Julian Alaphilippe. The 32-year-old has been struggling to find his form from 2021 in recent years, but at the Giro d'Italia we have once again seen glimpses of the good old Alaphilippe as he managed to take a stage while being one of the most active riders in the whole race. His selection by national coach Thomas Voeckler is then no surprise.

Alaphilippe is the only rider on the list who we can't watch at the on-going Tour de France. While Christophe Laporte is bound to Jonas Vingegaard by team duties and Valentin Madouas doesn't seem to be in his best form, Kevin Vauquelin is another interesting name in the selection.

Vauquelin appears to be in a great form as evidenced by his impressive solo victory in the second stage of the Tour de France. The 23-year-old Arkéa - B&B Hotels rider will, as the youngest member of the French National team, compete both in the road race as well as in the time trial a week earlier.

Selection of France for Olympic Games 2024:

Julian Alaphilippe
Christophe Laporte
Valentin Madouas
Kevin Vauquelin (both road race and time trial)
