On March 2nd, the women's peloton will tackle the Strade Biache Donne 2024 and of course the German team CANYON//SRAM Racing will be there. Katarzyna Niewiadoma, who already has four podium finishes to her name, and Soraya Paladin are already looking forward to lining up at the start with an impressive line-up for their team.
"It's nice that there is a change to the course," Niewiadoma said on the team's homepage. "This will cause more uncertainty for some riders about how to ride the final. The part that we now drive twice is usually the hardest part of the race, where everything explodes. At this point you drive from sector to sector, 'on your guard', as we say in Polish. If you know that you have to do it twice now, you calm down a bit in the first part of the race, otherwise the field arrives in groups of one and two. That makes the race more unpredictable. Even if you don't ride one of the sectors hard, you have to make an effort, which not everyone can do at the same level."
"Strade is an important and special race for me. I know that my teammates will be eager for the race. I want us to be present in the decisive moments and compete for victory. We are all striving together to bring victory in this unique and special race to our team," she adds.
Soraya Paladin, who finished fourteenth in 2021, adds her view of the extended edition of the Strade Bianche Donne this season: "The course has already been a challenge in recent years. Now it's even more difficult. That will make the race even more exciting. I like it and think it offers more room for breakaways and action before the last lap."
"You have to play your cards wisely, because it's easy to crack. It will be a battle between the physically and mentally strongest."
