After a brutally fast start to stage 5 of the 2024 Giro d'Italia, Intermarché - Wanty's Adrien Petit has become the first rider to abandon on the day.
Following the likes of Eddie Dunbar, Robert Gesink and Biniam Girmay among others out of the race, the 33-year-old Frenchman becomes the seventh rider to have been forced to abandon the race for a variety of reasons. "Adrien Petit is not feeling well and cannot continue the Giro d'Italia," posted his team to their official social media accounts. "Get well soon Adri."
