Yates has finished the UAE Tour in second place after being the only rider capable of challenging Tadej Pogacar in the mountains. At Paris-Nice he didn't have the same legs, however still finished a strong fourth place, behind teammate
Daniel Martínez. Although not mentioned, it is expected that Daniel Martínez - and possibly Pavel Sivakov - will be at the Tour with co-leadership status. The Colombian specially, is a proven Grand Tour contender and is showing the form required to be in the fight for the podium too.
As for the rumours that Richard Carapaz could change his plans and head to France in the summer to replace Egan Bernal who is likely to miss the race due to injuries, he was quick to dismiss them: "We will keep Richard Carapaz at the Giro d'Italia. It's a race that suits Richard and for that we want him to focus in it."
