Ineos Grenadiers has revealed their team for the Tour de France. The team will, despite recent issues, have both Britons that have recently had Covid-19 at the Tour, and three co-leaders as Geraint Thomas joins Daniel Martínez and Adam Yates with high ambitions.
The 36-year old is just off the back of a win at the Tour de Suisse where he's shown terrific form heading into the Tour de France. Thomas is a past winner in 2018 and will either ways be a crucial part of the team. Daniel Martínez and Adam Yates, both who showed their form and stage-racing prowess earlier in the season are also set for protected roles, the Colombian likely being the main card for the British team.
The team is stacked with talent from top to bottom though. The initial time-trial will see Filippo Ganna make his Tour de France debut in hopes of getting the yellow jersey, before going on to become an important protection rider in the flat and cobbled stages mostly for the trio. Luke Rowe will be road captain and serve a very similar role, with Dylan van Baarle making for another very important card which can provide important support on all terrains.
Jonathan Castroviejo is another incredibly experienced rider with a lot of quality in the climbs but also on the flat terrain and he will be adding more firepower to the INEOS train. Tom Pidcock is the last selected rider, a wildcard for most as he is expected to be having a domestique role, however with unknown form and ambitions coming into the race - as in his best form he should be able to hunt stages aswell.
Ineos Grenadiers for Tour de France: Geraint Thomas, Adam Yates, Daniel Martínez, Tom Pidcock, Filippo Ganna, Luke Rowe, Dylan van Baarle and Jonathan Castroviejo.
