The final week of the
Giro d'Italia 2025 starts this Tuesday with a very tough mountain stage. The whole week will be, with more than 22,000 meters of accumulated elevation gain. In short, it will be brutal. But for
Nairo Quintana, this the best possible scenario if he wants a stage win.
The Colombian came to the Giro with
Movistar Team with the same approach as last year: to help
Einer Rubio in the general classification and look for breakaways in the toughest mountain stages.
Speaking to Cycling Pro Net, Quintana confirmed that, going into the final week and without having won yet, the main idea is still to help Rubio, but with his own goals in mind:
"The main objective is to help Einer Rubio move up places in the general classification. But we have Davide Formolo as well, who will accompany him at all times," Nairo Quintana begins by pointing out.

In 2024, the Movistar Team rider came very close to winning the queen stage in Livigno. Only Tadej Pogacar was able to overtake him with 2 kilometers to go. Tuesday's stage 16 also looks to be the queen day of this year's edition. Will he be in the fight?
"For my part I'm going to try to take a stage win. I'm going for it, no doubt. We don't know when the best opportunity will come, but I'll try every day," Quintana added.
The feelings, as he ends up pointing out, are quite good for him. However, what worries the rider of the Movistar team is the weather, because before starting it had already started to rain.
"I feel good, we have a good feeling. Although it has started to rain. We hope the situation gets a little better, at least for me," concluded the Colombian.
