Iván Romeo is one of the most promising riders at Movistar Team. The rider from Valladolid has established himself as one of the great promises of Spanish cycling with an extraordinary 2025 in which he has consolidated his position by winning a stage in Dauphiné, winning the Spanish Championship and signing notable performances in the Tour de France. One particular comment on Tadej Pogacar and Remco Evenepoel has caught the attention of many.
In an interview granted during the Desayunos de la Prensa Deportiva de Valladolid and reported by the EFE agency, the winner of the 2024 under-23 time trial World Championships spoke among other things about the current dominance of riders like Tadej Pogacar or Remco Evenepoel, joking about their superiority: "Evenepoel and Pogacar are at another level. If they get tired and retire soon, so much the better," he joked.
He has a very clear vision of cycling in 2025 that has to do with his sporting objectives: "Sport is a business, in which we work so that the sponsor has media repercussions and that is why it is better to win two or three stages in a race than to finish seventh in the Tour de France".
He is clear that cyclists like Pogacar are a blessing for the sport that goes far beyond their sporting results because of the way they behave away from the bike, which ultimately benefits cycling, unlike what's happened in the past: "Because it is also important for any sport to have figures, references that transcend and put the focus on it, especially when they are good cyclists and good people".

Ivan Romeo's 2026

On the year 2026 that he has planned with Movistar Team, he commented: "A plan very similar to that of 2025. To be at 100 percent in three races, instead of 80 percent the whole season, because the only way to achieve things is to give everything". Amongst these might be the Tour de France, which he said to have consumed about 6500-7000 calories per day this summer.
At just 23 years of age, the season that has just ended has been the one of his consolidation with his victories in the Spanish national Championship, the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana and Criterium du Dauphiné.
A fall prevented him from winning at the Tour de France and he finished the year just outside the top 10 in the time trial at the World Championships in Rwanda. On his ambition for the future, he makes it clear that words are useless: "I'm not going to set limits for myself because the road sets them for you".
