On the year 2026 that he has planned with
Movistar Team, he commented: "A plan very similar to that of 2025. To be at 100 percent in three races, instead of 80 percent the whole season, because the only way to achieve things is to give everything". A fall prevented him from winning at the Tour de France and
he finished the year just outside the top 10 in the time trial at the World Championships in Rwanda. On his ambition for the future, he makes it clear that words are useless: "I'm not going to set limits for myself because the road sets them for you".
