Merijn Zeeman, DS of Jumbo-Visma has blown the rumour of a possible Primoz Roglic departure up. The Slovenian has a contract until 2025 however in recent months he's been linked to both INEOS Grenadiers and Lidl-Trek, both teams with a big budget into 2024.
“There has been zero discussion. So I think it’s a complete bullshit story. Of course we wouldn’t let him go," team DS Merijn Zeeman told GCN hours after the first emergence. Lidl-Trek's manager Luca Guarcilena told Escape Collective that "of course it’s evident he would be a great fit for our team," not dismissing the chances of a possible move - which would, if happening, certainly include a huge financial effort.
"We’re building a team for the long term and that’s the strategy. We want to make sure that these guys are under long-term contracts and we don’t give that away. Plus I saw the report and I think what his manager said is that Primož is also very happy with the team," Zeeman argued. "So I think that from both sides we are committed to each other. We just continue with that approach and we’ll continue with that over the coming years."

Hence Jumbo-Visma continue committed to keeping it's leader in the ranks. Roglic has in no way slowed down, not only has he won the Giro d'Italia this year but he's won all three stage-races that he's raced outside of the Grand Tour. It is an absolute spotless record in 2023 and if he was to follow the pattern, a Vuelta a Espana is to come later this summer - which is very possible.
