"I hoped to be able to become Italian champion" - Kristian Sbaragli

Kristian Sbaragli finished on the podium of the elite men's road race of the 2023 Italian Championships. Alpecin-Deceuninck rider came close to winning, but two riders were faster in a reduced sprint at the end of hard day on the bike.

"Today I was fine, I think I had a good race," he tells SpazioCiclismo after the race. "Honestly, in the last three, four kilometers I hoped to be able to become Italian champion and wear the tricolor jersey. Unfortunately I didn't win, but the performance was still good as far as I'm concerned, so I'm satisfied."

"Now we'll try to take most of the situation with the team. Then we'll prepare for the second part of the season," he adds thinking about the next objectives. "Normally the races in Canada and autumn classics in Italy are on my schedule, but we still have to decide with the team."
