"I am convinced that at 28, he can still make significant progress" - Lotto-Intermarché confirms experienced rider's return to team

Lotto-Intermarché have stalled their transfer exodus, announcing the signing of an experienced Flemish rider as Stan Dewulf returns to the team on a two year contract.
The 28-year-old is back with the squad from 2027, leaving Decathlon CMA CGM after six seasons with the French outfit. An experienced rider with a classics pedigree, Lotto hope his experience can help aide the development of their young line-up.
With a gaping hole growing within the team's core riders, Arnaud de Lie, Lennart van Eetvelt and Liam Slock are all leaving the team this winter, Dewulf joins Sebastian Molano's arrival as two external transfers that add experience to their line-up.
Dewulf turned professional with the team in 2018 before two full seasons at the team preceeding his move to France. He has shown strong form in 2026, picking up a particularly notable 4th place finish at E3 Saxo Classic in Spring.

Dewulf saw Lotto as perfect option
"I really wanted to return to a team where the spring classics are central," Dewulf said.
"I rode for a French team for the past six years, but I kept in good contact with sporting manager Kurt Van de Wouwer all that time. When he contacted me again, I felt quite quickly that the team's sporting vision aligned well with what I was looking for."
Lotto manager Kurt Van de Wouwer echoed Dewulf, hoping that not only would his experience provide a positive impact on the team, but they intend to help him progress further and rise to a new level with added opportunities.

"Stan fits very well into the type of team we want to be. In recent years, he has proven that he can compete at a high level in the classics, and that is exactly where we want to give him plenty of opportunities again.
"At the same time, he brings a wealth of experience. Stan knows our team, he knows the Flemish races inside out, and he knows what it takes to perform at the highest level. With many young riders in our squad, such a profile is particularly valuable."
He added: "I am convinced that at 28, he can still make significant progress himself and simultaneously play an important role in the development of our young riders."

- Unbelievably annoying! We in Villaviciosa de Córdoba were looking forward for some time, to the first Vuelta to go through our village (twice). Every business were setting up early, people parking first and settling into prime watching spots for the day. 3,000 locals alone. The temperature is no higher today than normal, so why bother having the tour this time of year. The new route eliminates the two Villaviciosa climbs, leaving the new route going down narrow country lanes. No room for a good pelaton and definitely no room for fans.
