Laurence Pithie was one of the big breakthrough riders of the season and he gets his reward from Groupama-FDJ. The French team heads to the
Giro d'Italia with a young lineup and the 21-year old is the absolute leader.
Pithie was the winner of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race earlier this year. He finished seventh at Paris-Roubaix, led Paris-Nice for a day and featured in big attacks together with the likes of Wout van Aert and Mathieu van der Poel respectively at Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne and Gent-Wevelgem. His talent as a classics rider is apparent, but he also packs a strong sprint which makes him an outsider for many days at the Corsa Rosa.
