Jonathan Milan at stage 3 of the 2026 Giro d'Italia
The 2026 Giro d'Italia will take place from the 8th to the 31st of May. It is the first Grand Tour of the season, and there are 21 stages that will take the riders through many of Italy's iconic cities, the mythical Alps, and many treacherous stages - each one can end the climber's chances of winning. We preview stage 15, which is expected to start and finish at 13:20 and 16:40CET.

Profile Stage 15: Voghera - Milano

Stage 15: Voghera - Milano, 157 kilometers
The final stage of the second week is an unusual sight, as the riders head into Milano for a sprint finish. The main city in the north of Italy often hosts time trials to end the race, but this time around the scenario is different, and the penultimate Sunday of the race sees a day for the sprinters, with many expected to follow the stage roadside.
The riders begin in Voghera and for many it can even be considered a rest day, with 157 pan-flat kilometers leading to Milano, where we will see a circuit finish where the sprinters will have a golden opportunity to show what they're worth.

The Favourites

Temperatures over 30 degrees won't be to the liking of the riders but competition wise on a day like this it won't really change anything. It's a pure sprint stage, with no obstacles or questions to that matter.
Paul Magnier is on a pursuit to recover his maglia ciclamino, which has been taken away from him today by Jhonatan Narváez who has benefited from his many victories and breakaway adventures. It will be interesting to see what the Ecuadorian does, likely trying to get in the mix; as he did not start this race with intentions of going for the jersey or even trying to gather points logically.
But the day can have many other riders stealing the spotlight. There have been very few pure sprint stages so far this Giro and with Magnier winning both regular finales, it has starved all other top sprinters from victories. Jonathan Milan and Dylan Groenewegen, alongside their respective leadouts, are going have serious pressure arriving to Milano with what is their penultimate opportunity to take a win in this Giro.
The same can be said of Tobias Lund Andresen whom Decathlon sees as a second priority, however has not yet delivered in this race as he hoped and this week has been ill as well. Ethan Vernon of NSN will also have been very disappointed after stage 12 and is a rider to take into consideration if the Swiss team do a good leadout this time around.
Ben Turner, Orluis Aular, Madis Mihkels, Matteo Malucelli, Erlend Blikra, Casper van Uden, Pascal Ackermann, Giovanni Lonardi, Jensen Plowright, Luca Mozzato and Paul Penhoët are also men to watch.
