Team Visma | Lease a Bike attacked
Paris-Nice in the crosswinds and today's stage proved deadly for the aspirations of several GC contenders. The last flat stage of the race proved to be brutal for a few riders, and the overall classification looks completely different after stage 6.
Starting the day,
Jonas Vingegaard's DNS meant that automatically all riders except for Jorgenson climbed a position in the Top10. But a few would lose it later. Visma and INEOS propelled the front group by almost two minutes over the second peloton, whilst Lenny Martínez and his Bahrain - Victorious domestiques lost almost 10 minutes and fell out of GC contention completely.
Matteo Jorgenson, due to a bonified sprint, gained another 4 seconds on
Florian Lipowitz and 2 on
Mattias Skjelmose who now fill the podium after brilliantly making it into the front group and putting themselves in perfect podium position. INEOS Grenadiers were the absolute winners in terms of depth as with their move they put
Thymen Arensman from 7th to 4th; Tobias Foss from 16th to 6th and Magnus Sheffield from 18th to 7th... In 5th sits
João Almeida who lost almost 2 minutes to the aforementioned, together with
Brandon McNulty who is now 8th. Clément Champoussin and Harold Tejada have actually maintained their Top10 positions despite being caught out, closing it for Astana.
