The 2025 Vuelta a Espana has come to a close. Neither fans or riders managed to enjoy a final day into Madrid and celebrate in the Spanish capital, neither did the classification winners get to enjoy their trips to the podium. Nevertheless, amidst the chaos after the road invasion by protestors, we present the final standings of each classification and their winner.
The race has been won by Jonas Vingegaard, winner in Limone, Estacion de Valdezcaray and Bola de Mundo. After a second place at the Tour de France, the Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider has managed to win his third Grand Tour, and for the first time win one outside the Tour itself. He was joined by João Almeida and Tom Pidcock on the hypothetical podium, both achieving their best Grand Tour results to date as well. Jai Hindley, Matthew Riccitello, Giulio Pellizzari, Sepp Kuss, Felix Gall, Torstein Traeen and Matteo Jorgenson completed the Top10.
Mads Pedersen won the points classification, taking Lidl-Trek to the historic step of winning the classification in all Grand Tours in one year. He was truly the only contender for the victory, it didn't seem like any other rider battled for it. Jonas Vingegaard and Jasper Philipsen, winners of three stages each, finished second and third however very distant. Pedersen took the victory on stage 15.
The KOM classification was won by Jay Vine, double stage winner on summit finish breakaways throughout the first half of the race, and one of the strongest climbers in the race. Jonas Vingegaard finished second in the standings, only 5 points behind, even though he didn't particularly target it.
Matthew Riccitello finished the youth classification at the top, although he didn't get to race a stage in the jersey. He beat Giulio Pellizzari after the Italian led the classification for a long time and then lost it at the Bola del Mundo. UAE Team Emirates - XRG would've climbed to the podium in Madrid if it had been held, having won the team's classification.
