Ethan Hayter's Tour de France dream at risk as Dauphine crash injuries revealed to be a broken collarbone

INEOS Grenadiers's Critérium du Dauphiné was rocked early on stage 1 as a pair of crashes forced Ethan Hayter to abandon. Now the injuries have been revealed with Hayter's Tour de France dreams seemingly up in smoke.

The 24-year-old had been expected to make a Tour de France debut later this summer, however as the effects of the two crashes have been revealed to be a broken collarbone, the chances of the former Tour de Pologne and Tour of Norway winner being at full strength are now slim.

It is unclear just how long Hayter will be out of action for although an official statement by the INEOS Twitter account revealed "A medical assessment at a local hospital showed a left clavicle fracture. He also sustained road rashes to the left hip, left knee and elbows, and a forehead impact required a minor suture."

"Ongoing team medical assessment and treatments will be planned accordingly over the coming days. Heal up quick Ethan," the post concludes.
