Despite the hilly nature of the race, it was a calm day in the peloton, as everyone pointed their focus towards the finale of the stage. The breakaway was caught with 29 kilometers to go, as a crash with 15 kilometers to go a crash disrupted the order of the peloton. Race leader Ethan Hayter crashed, aswell as the likes of Rigoberto Uran, Sergio Higuita, Ion Izagirre, which saw a split in the peloton.
