Dissatisfied Ineos Grenadiers unlikely to renew Ethan Hayter after couple slender years

Long gone are the glory days of 2021/22 when Ethan Hayter was banging on the doors of world's elite, scoring over 1000 UCI points two years in a row while arriving fourth at ITT World Championships in Wollongong and winning eight races in 2021 and five in 2022.

The 2023 season was already not ideal for older Hayter, who still scpred big stage wins at Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Romandie, adding third place overall at the end of season at Tour of Guangxi, but for a rider, who's reportedly on a leader's salary within INEOS Grenadiers, this is far from expectations.

If last year was merely disappointing for Hayter, then 2024 caught him completely off guard. It's not a secret that Hayter is preparing to represent Great Britain at track events at Paris Olympics. But the Brit still rode a nice road programme, yet without any remarkable successes. Few top 10 results are not what the two-time British time trial champion strives for.

All things considered, it only makes sense that management would be far from satisfied with the 25-year-old Brit, whose younger brother Leo also rides for the British team and unlike Ethan is bound until the end of 2025. And according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, the situation reached the point where Ethan Hayter has to look to continue his professional career elsewhere. Where? We'll have to see in upcoming weeks.
