Deutschland Tour: Pello Bilbao wins reduced GC sprint to win final stage as Adam Yates secures GC sucess

The final day of the Deutschland Tour delivered an exciting and explosive finale, which has been used by Bahrain - Victorious' Pello Bilbao to take the stage win, as INEOS Grenadiers' Adam Yates arrived safely in the group and won the overall classification.

Romain Bardet, Barnabas Peak, Matthew Holmes and Mick van Dijke went on the attack within the final circuit in Stuttgart where the stage was to be played for. The quartet was caught in the final ascent in which there were attacks and a sprint for the bonus seconds, with Ruben Guerreiro passing in front and severely reducing the group.

Alberto Bettiol afterwards kept the pace high as he looked to keep the pace high for Guerreiro's sake. It was all to play for in the sprint, where Georg Zimmermann launched his sprint first. Pello Bilbao came through quickly after, and he managed to hold off the carge of Ruben Guerreiro to take the stage win. Zimmermann finished third.

The Basque has finished second in the GC, but could not dislodge Adam Yates who kept the red jersey and won the race.
