"Curious if I'll actually get a bonus" - Another boost for Visma and Vingegaard as key Tour de France rider extends contract

Visma | Lease a Bike and Jonas Vingegaard have received another boost as a key member of their Tour de France team has signed a contract extension. As the team enjoy a successful Vuelta a Espana, Victor Campenaerts has extended his stay at the team until the end of the 2028 season.
The versatile Belgian rider, a proven domestique for team leader Vingegaard, Campenaerts joined in 2025 and established himself as one of the team's most important riders, relying on his strength and experience in the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France this season.
Joining the team off the back of a Tour stage win in 2024, the 34-year-old was part of Visma and Vingegaard's squad in their 2024 Vuelta victory and Vingegaard's Giro pink jersey in May.
"I joined the team with the ambition to become a valuable domestique in Grand Tours, and that has all gone very smoothly," Campenaerts said in an announcement.

"I have since been able to contribute to victories in both the Vuelta and the Giro, something I am extremely proud of. I am very happy that the team continues to express confidence in me and further underscores this with this contract extension."
For Visma's Head of Racing Marc Reef, Campenaerts has been a difference maker in many of their races as he praised the Belgian's commitment to the team.
"Victor has shown since joining us that he is a rider who can make a real difference to the team. He has a lot of experience, is physically very strong and understands the dynamics of racing well," Reef said.

Campenaerts and Jorgenson joke
"What we value most, however, is his commitment to the team. He is always prepared to do what is necessary to give his teammates the best possible chance of success. We are very happy to continue our partnership with him."
As part of the announcement, the team released a lighthearted video of a call between Matteo Jorgenson and Campenaerts, who have sturck up a viral social media partnership this season in video blogs.
In the video, Jorgenson jokes that he struck up the contract extension, and will take a cut of the proceeds - noting that Campenaerts will get a bonus if he helps him win Paris Nice in 2027. Campenaerts responded: "Curious if I'll actually get a bonus when the time comes."
Meanwhile, the team recently extended Christophe Laporte's contract, reinforcing their squad with a core experienced rider staying with the setup.

- any rider less than 25 whether they are really ready for the position of leadership of GT is probably not the case. I think Pogi himself suffered when he was defeated by Jonas in the TDF twice.
