The Criterium du Dauphiné is without surprise the most important run-up race for the Tour de France in the peloton, Jumbo-Visma and Jonas Vingegaard are to test their form and block ahead of the biggest goal of the season.
In fact 6 of the 7 riders present are expected to be at the race. Sepp Kuss is not present as he is recovering from a hard Giro d'Italia, but he is replaced by Attila Valter who has been on Vingegaard support for several stage-races already this year. The other man from the '8' missing is Wout van Aert, who will head to the Tour de Suisse in search of stage wins.
The six riders remain will be at the Tour. Jonas Vingegaard comes in as the main favourite for the overall classification but faces tough competition in the mountain stages that lay ahead, supported by Steven Kruijswijk mainly on the large ascents.
Besides van Aert, the classics block which will support the Dane at the Tour is all here. Nathan van Hooydonck, Christophe Laporte, Tiesj Benoot and Dylan van Baarle complete the lineup, and will work towards what will be an important week to prove themselves ahead of the Grand Boucle and stamp their presence - as Wilco Kelderman is currently a reserve for the Tour and should himself be a great card.
Jumbo-Visma for Criterium du Dauphiné:
Jonas Vingegaard, Nathan van Hooydonck, Christophe Laporte, Attila Valter, Tiesj Benoot, Steven Kruijswijk and Dylan van Baarle.
