Andrea Vendrame and Stefano Gandin the newest Covid-19 positive at survival Giro d'Italia

Six riders have already in total been confirmed to abandon the Giro d'Italia this morning due to Covid-19. The outbreak is picking up even more momentum, among those who will not be present at stage 11 is Andrea Vendrame who had already resisted a high-speed crash.

AG2R Citroën Team confirmed the bad news this morning, as one of their leaders abandoned the race. Vendrame was already involved and the worst off the mass crash at the finish line on stage 5, at the time dislocating a collarbone. He was carried out in a stretcher but able to continue in the race, however has now been forced to end his race.

Among the affected is also Team Corratec - Selle Italia's Stefano Gandin, who makes for another absence at the start line today in Camaiore.
