The first stage of the Tour de France has left us some conclusions and some disappointments. In the first place, the fall and abandonment of Enric Mas leaves the Movistar Team without a leader. Secondly, the (more or less expected) collapse of Daniel Martínez leaves Carlos Rodríguez as leader of the INEOS Grenadiers.

We can also highlight that the fight between Jumbo-Visma and the UAE Team Emirates is going to be tremendous and that the first blow has been given by those from the Middle East with the victory of Adam Yates.

It is tremendous what awaits us between Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogacar. We can say without fear of being wrong that the Slovenian's wrist is fine and that he has reached the Tour in good shape, another thing is that when we get to the high mountains he will notice or not that he had to be off the bike for a few weeks. We'll know in a few days...

We must add that the EF Education-EasyPost leader Richard Carapaz was involved in the fall of Enric Mas (who is already thinking about the Vuelta a Espana). He has lost more than 15 minutes. If he manages to recover he will go through stages like he did last year in the Vuelta a España. If not, to rest and like Enric to think about leaving Barcelona.

The Movistar Team's plan changes radically. Some thought that Matteo Jorgenson could be co-leader of the telephone team. Many added in networks that he would deserve the same status. At the first exchange, however, the American has shown that he is not a rider prepared for generals and has lost almost three minutes. Thus, it remains for him, for Ruben Guerreiro and for Alex Aranburu, the fight for the stages. They will be missing Iván García Cortina (or they should).

In the INEOS squad, in the first second-category climb of barely 2 kilometres, everything has become clear: Carlos Rodríguez is the most reliable rider, Egan Bernal continues with his recovery but is still not at the level of the best, Tom Pidcock is very good but he still doesn't have the point to be with those in the general classification and Daniel Martínez is completely out of shape (we'll see if he can help his teammates or fight for a stage, but he's not reliable for the general classification).

Thus, a very busy first stage in which teams like the Movistar Team and INEOS Grenadiers have things clearer due to race circumstances. A lot of fabric to cut until we reach Paris...
