“Today was a long and hard stage here. I felt really good and made it to the line with the GC favorites. Saturday and Sunday will be the decisive days in the race for the overall classification. I think today was more like a test for the GC guys," Vlasov said after the stage.
After the breakaway was given the freedom to go for the stage win, there wasn't much Vlasov could do in the peloton as Jumbo-Visma controlled most of the stage and kept everything together. At the final hilltop Vlasov was between the riders attempting to attack and take some time on his rivals, but Primoz Roglic has had the legs to cancel out all moves. Vlasov finished the stage in 11th place and climbed to fifth in the overall classification, and is 59 seconds behind Primoz Roglic. He is however just 18 seconds outside of the podium, currently filled by Adam Yates and Pierre Latour.
"I feel good and I’m looking forward to the next stages.“
