"A win in La Vuelta Femenina is yet another great thing to put on my resume" - Alison Jackson overjoyed by stunning stage win

Powering to the line in a frantically chaotic sprint finish to stage 2 of the 2024 La Vuelta Femenina, EF Education-Cannondale's Alison Jackson could barely contain her delight post-race.

"I came in with a real fire to win this. Even starting under the rain, I took the mentality that it could be a very good day and I just needed to be a bit more careful than usual. I was lucky to always be in the right place at the right time, with teammates guiding me from the beginning to the end," the Canadian National Champion reflected with delight in her post-stage interview. "Crashes were happening and I tried to play it smart, keeping it safe. In the final, we managed to dodge all the crashes and my teammate Kristen Faulkner was there to lead me out. She is so strong I knew no one would be able to come around, and I could choose when I wanted to launch my sprint. It’s unbelievable, I got the win!"

After her incredible victory at Paris-Roubaix in 2023, Jackson has admittedly struggled to fully continue the momentum since. This latest triumph however, marks another memorable day in the career of the much-loved 35-year-old.

"I really wanted to have another huge race in Roubaix, but you can only control what you can control. The team has been coming together more and more as the season goes. Coming into the Vuelta Femenina I had a lot of fire and knew I was going to do everything it took to get this win," she concludes. "The team really believed in me, from staff to riders, and I took that to heart. A win in the Vuelta Femenina is yet another great thing to put on my resume."
