Mathieu van der Poel has taken a rest period after his successful spring classics campaign and returned to competition this weekend at the Nové Mesto Mountain Bike World Cup race, however only minutes into the race he has hit the ground.
The
Alpecin-Deceuninck rider hasn't found his luck in the off-road discipline yet, in the past he has crashed out of the Olympic Games race in 2021, and then once again at the 2023 World Championships - two of his main goals in recent years. During today's race he has gone down relatively hard, which can be seen in the video below:
