The final World Tour race of 2024 is up and running this morning in China as Lotto Dstny's Lionel Taminiaux sprinted to victory on the opening stage of the Tour of Guangxi, taking early ownership of the leaders jersey as a result.
With the lone attacker Stan Dewulf only caught inside the final 2km, there was some tension in the air, but the expected bunch sprint finish to the day did eventually come to pass. In it, Taminiaux prevailed, taking his 4th pro win ahead of Intermarché-Wanty's Gijs van Hoecke and UAE Team Emirates' Juan Sebastian Molano after a quick look at the photo finish by race jury.
