- Looking at 2025 and using stats from PCS. Giro 7th best start list. Roubaix and Flanders - 15th and 16th best start list. Basically there is the TDF on the top tier and everything else, monuments included, on a much lower tier
- Watching 21 days of a Grand Tour knowing who's going to win can get a little boring. Some good competition at the top is absolutely necessary to make it enjoyable. I see some hope at the TdF this year. The Giro is a foregone conclusion at this point.
- Normal, has shitty weather and shitty timing. Many will avoid because they have to/can do the TOUR.
Comparing GTs with one day races is totally pointless, no problem to recover from one race to the next, most can’t do that with GTs.
How long will this pseudo last?
- Inclined to agree, nobody knows how much he’s trying or holding back knowing the bigger goal is a bit down the line.
No point in taking these figures too seriously especially that very little is devoted to conditions and context.
Only betting outfits and the teams themselves should be considering these.
- If the man is chasing records, he has to fit the Worlds and Il Lombardia into his calendar. If he wants to race the Vuelta, that requires a certain kind of preparation after the Tour. Will that actually be possible for him? Would he actually try to win 4 Monuments, 2 Grand Tours, and the Worlds in the same year? That would be something Merckx never did. Does that matter to him?
- Some say the Giro is the second best and most prestigious race in the world??? NEVER!!! Why does every monument have a better starting list by far than the Giro? Why don't the best in the world want to compete in top races like the Giro every year? I will give you one example: Flanders is very close to Roubaix, but Flanders has the best starting list... and Roubaix has the best starting list. Get it?
The Giro would be 100 times better than the Tour if the Giro had a start list like the Tour. Italians have better food, better mountains, terrain that offers 100 race profiles and 100 times better fans. The Giro has everything better, but it doesn't have the most important thing- the START LIST!
- If you were Pogi the G.O.A.T. ... you would not be nervous, you'd be smiling :)
- TDF 2024 - Plateau de Beille - Pogi: W/k-6.88 ... Vinnie: W/k-6.71
TDF 2024 - Isola 2000 - Pogi: W/k-6.78 ... Vinnie: 6.35
TDF 2025 - Hautacam - Pogacar: W/k-6.75 ... Vingegaard: W/k-6.30
TDF 2025 - Peyragudes - Pogacar: W/k-7.35 ... Vingegaard: W/k-7.08
- Not really... Poga has it covered...
- agreed. he has won every mountain stage easily. he is pacing himself perfect for both the overall win and to be ready for the TdF. The scary thing is for the TdF, these are almost like training rides. If I was Tadej, I would be very nervous.
