Johan Jacobs will skip cyclocross races this year to be fully prepare for early start to the new season: "There would be little time to do any racing anways"

Johan Jacobs will not be racing in the field this winter. The 26-year-old rider competed in his last race of the season on road in October and will start the season early in 2024. So a few crosses did not fit into his program, Jacobs tells WielerFlits.

Jacobs had a number of difficult moments last season. The Swiss, who has a Belgian father and also lives in Belgium, suffered a narrowing of one of his femoral arteries. Jacobs underwent surgery at the beginning of May. The operation, which is not without risks, went well and he was able to resume work a few months later. It ensured that he rode many races in the autumn, even until mid-October.

"I finished my road season in the Tour of Guangxi, so that was really late. In 2024, the season will start early again in Australia. We will leave with the team on January 4 or 5, so there will be little time to do any racing. It's a shame, but who knows, I might be there again next year," says Jacobs, who finished third at the European Junior Championships in 2014.
