The Dutch Cyclo-Cross Championships in Hoogeveen promises to be a spectacular event. The battle for the red-white-blue in the field will be fought on Sunday, January 14 in the elite and U23 categories in Drenthe. In a press release, the KNWU is preparing cyclocross fans for the second week of January.
Organiser Renate Groenewold is looking forward to the National Championships, which were already supposed to be held in Hoogeveen in 2021. Then the championship was canceled due to the coronavirus. They are now going for revenge on the landscaped coast of Nijstad Beach. "The course contains all the facets you encounter in cyclo-cross."
By this, Groenewold is referring to the 2,700-meter circuit, in which beams, bridges, climbs, sand strips and a slope have been laid out. So, at home in all markets. KNWU director Maurice Leeser looks at it all with approval. "We are proud that the National Championships will be held in Hoogeveen in 2024. Fortunately, there will be no postponement, and now we can look forward to a fantastic event in the north of the country."
Fans can attend the National Championships for free. It is not yet known who will start the men and women races. Last year in Zaltbommel it was Lars van der Haar and Puck Pieterse who took the Dutch title. Pieterse recently announced that she intends to defend her title.
