Wout Van Aert would've liked to see safer downhill from Grand Colombier for riders after the stage: "If there are fences, it would be a lot safer"

Wout Van Aert briefly spoke to the press after the thirteenth stage. The Belgian indicated that the journey went according to plan. The Belgian crossed the line in 131st, more than 20 minutes behind favourites.

"It was soon clear that UAE wanted to take control of the course. We rode to the climb at a breakneck speed, after which I saved my legs for the stages to come. Normally it is also up to Sepp Kuss and Wilco Kelderman to stay with them as long as possible," said the Belgian.

Finally, Van Aert wanted to say something about the descent of the Grand Colombier after the ride: "If there are a few thousand people on that mountain and you still have to go down, it is not always safe. All those people also want to go down and don't always have an eye for the riders who are descending. If there are fences, it would be a lot safer."
