Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe will have Primoz Roglic do the Giro-Tour double later this year in search of GC success. At the Tour Roglic should have the support of Daniel Martínez, Aleksandr Vlasov, Jan Tratnik, Danny van Poppel... But one of the team's sprinters Jordi Meeus is also looking to get in the lineup in France.

"I noticed a lot more staff present at the winter training camp in Mallorca," Meeus shared with Sporza. "Last year, there were 1 or 2 chefs there. Now, there were 4, although they alternated. The number of tests was also increased. During our team building in Salzburg at the end of October, we underwent three different eye, lung, and heart tests."

The Belgian rider is motivated into the coming year and believes that Red Bull's influence in the team will have a positive outcome. He was the winner of the Champs-Élysées sprint back in 2023 and with the race returning to Paris this summer, the 26-year old would like to make a return.

"I'm looking forward to returning to the Tour. It would be fun to sprint there again against my training buddy Jasper Philipsen," he admits, but it's unclear if he will have the space, or if the team will opt at all to have a main sprinter to chase for wins, or if it will go all-out in it's GC bid with the Slovenian. It could be a bit of a clash, in a team that also has Sam Welsford and and Laurence Pithie as riders who can do well in the sprints and could take leading spots in other Grand Tours already.

A tough position for Meeus, who will have a great focus on the spring classics as well before preparing for a possible Grand Boucle return. "Paris-Roubaix is one of my main goals; I want to excel there. Last year, I was disappointed with 8th place in Hell because I felt I hadn't got everything out of it," he admits.

This year he will have a much stronger classics block, joined by the additions of Oier Lazkano, Laurence Pithie, Jan Tratnik and the van Dijke twins. "But afterward, I was still satisfied with my performance. Being in that situation so far into the race was new for me. I learned a lot from it," he concluded.
