Wilco Kelderman and Zoe Bäckstedt are amongst the early winners of this Sunday's national championship day. Many of Europe's nations will crown new - or old - winners and amongst the first is the Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider who has taken his first road race win of his career at the age of 35.
Kelderman is a rider that has always been at the top or close in professional cycling, for over a decade already. Currently he is often a domestique in the Dutch team, but has spent many years in its - or other structures' - lead. He has won three time trials and an overall classification in the past, but never won a regular road race where he would raise his arms with a win. And his last win came 11 years ago, at the Dutch nationals where he was the winner of the time trial.
Few would've expected this to happen, but this afternoon in Berg en Dal, it was the veteran who managed to race into victory with a solo move at the end of tactical race. He was joined by fellow veteran Bauke Mollema on the podium and Joshem Kerckhaert.

Over in Great Britain, Zoe Bäckstedt was victorious in Aberystwyth. The young rider had already previously won the under-23 time trial title but this Sunday she raced at elite level and did not look to break a sweat when taking on the competition.
It was a dominant victory with a solo move that saw her raise her arms with almost two minutes of lead over her closest rival, taking a convincing title. Josie Knight and Millie Couzens and Josie Knight joined her on the podium.
