Transitioning to the rough cobbled classics can be a difficult adjustment for many professional cyclists, but 23-year-old talent
Tobias Lund Andresen clearly enjoyed
the challenge at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The Danish rider launched a brave attack on the Bosberg and eventually won the sprint for sixth place, showing great early season form.
Following the race, Lund Andresen was full of enthusiasm when speaking to
Eurosport. He had been looking forward to the start of the cobbled season, and his performance confirmed that the style of racing suits him well.
"It was really fun. I have really missed this feeling," he explained after crossing the finish line. "It is so fun to race this way."

Attacking the Bosberg
Even though the front of the race was already decided by the time the chasing group reached the final climbs, Lund Andresen refused to just sit quietly in the pack. He decided to test his legs with an attack on the Bosberg, hoping to bridge across to riders further up the road.
He admitted that while he felt stronger than his sixth-place finish suggests, he wanted to race aggressively rather than just wait for a minor placing. "We are not here to ride for top-10 finishes. I just hoped a small group would go, and we could have fun racing," he noted. "It is a strange feeling to race this way compared to what I am used to. I just went all in. Why not try to attack?"
Before the race began, the young Dane made it clear that he wanted to show the cycling world he could handle the demands of the cobblestones. By finishing near the very front of the race, he accomplished exactly that.
"I am really happy about today," Lund Andresen concluded. "Of course, the result was not what we came for, but it is nice to prove that I can also ride these kinds of races."
