Isaac del Toro will pin on a number again this Sunday, August 16th, at the Hamburg Cyclassics, after several weeks without racing since the end of the Tour de France.
The German WorldTour classic is built for sprinters and does not naturally suit the Mexican’s profile, but it looks a good chance to regain race rhythm and start sharpening form for his late-season target: the Road World Championships.
For now, the ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg is the only confirmed race for the Mexican on his return to competition. His participation in the other upcoming WorldTour event, the Renewi Tour, is not confirmed, and he will not ride the Vuelta a España.
His absence from the final Grand Tour of the calendar follows UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s policy of not fielding riders under 25 in two Grand Tours in the same season. Del Toro already rode the Tour de France, where he finished on the podium, so he will skip the Vuelta.

A calendar shaped by the Worlds

Isaac del Toro’s main objective for the closing stretch of 2026 is the Worlds, scheduled for September 27th. The date heavily influences his programme, as several races that traditionally serve as Worlds tune-ups will clash this year with the Vuelta a España.
Among them are the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec on 11.09 and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal on 13.09. Montréal carries extra interest, as its route overlaps with the circuit that will later host the Worlds.
It is not yet decided whether Del Toro will cross the Atlantic for the two Canadian classics or opt for a schedule centred more on Italy.

Another route through Italy

The alternative is to repeat a path similar to last season and race several Italian events. Del Toro competed last year at the Coppa Sabatini, Memorial Marco Pantani, Trofeo Matteotti and Giro d’Abruzzo, taking multiple wins.
That race block could again anchor his 2026 build-up, although there is still no official confirmation of his programme after Hamburg.
The run-in to season’s end could also include some of Italy’s most traditional autumn classics. Races potentially on the slate include the Giro dell’Emilia, Coppa Agostoni, Coppa Bernocchi, Gran Piemonte and Il Lombardia.
