"We know what Remco is like: with his heart on his sleeve" - DS Lodewyck addresses Evenepoel's 'Roglic pressure' comment

At the end of stage 6 Remco Evenepoel told Eurosport that he believes Primoz Roglic and Jumbo-Visma are under pressure. He's since explained the statement, however Soudal - Quick-Step DS Klaas Lodewyck told Sporza this morning what he thought of it.

"I don't know if that was wise, but we know what Remco is like: with his heart on his sleeve. We don't pay too much attention to it ourselves. I don't know if that's psychological warfare, he just says what he thinks. There is a lot of pre-chewing. Some people can handle it, others can't."

"I have the impression that Roglic is a bit nervous... The Jumbo-Visma riders also look a bit nervous in the peloton, but that's their style. They push a lot," Evenepoel had said. The team DS was not worried with the statement, and the World Champion has since explained it. 

This morning he told reporters at the start that "I said I was in his situation in the Volta a Catalunya. Then it made us nervous as a team, because I had to take back time. So I can imagine that it is now the other way around."

Lodewyck confirms the good spirits within Soudal - Quick-Step ahead of an important day, where differences can be expected in the overall classification, and the team may pull on the leader's jersey once again. "Remco had a smile on his face on the bus. He was not bothered and that is the best suggestion."

"A lot of guys are already at a great distance. DSM will not benefit from bringing back a leading group, nor will we if there are no dangerous men with it. I suspect the flight can continue moving forward," he concluded.
