Demi Vollering continues her winning streak, after showing tremendous form at the Vuelta Femenina she has won the opening stage of Itzulia Women and has put herself in pole position for the overall classification.
The day struggled to see a breakaway form, as the strong pace never let a group truly go up the road. Anna Kiesenhofer was among those who tried in the second half of the stage, but the breakaway didn't stand many chances as the pace went up ahead of the final climb.

It wasn't a hard one, but in her current form Demi Vollering was unbeatable. The Dutchwoman paced off the front of the group and in her traditional style has ridden everyone off the wheel, surging into a solo win after a treacherous wet descent.
Marlen Reusser wrapped off a one-two for Team SD Worx as she led the chasing group in, which included Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Annemiek van Vleuten and Olivia Baril.
