Vuelta a Espana had perhaps the most unusual finale in the history of the sport, certainly the case in recent years. The anti-Israel protestors in Madrid swarmed the city center and made it impossible for the riders to race stage 21, and also made it a logistical nightmare - if possible at all - for the riders to reach the finish area. The official podium celebrations were cancelled... But an unofficial one took place now at the
Team Visma | Lease a Bike hotel.
The light-hearted moment came as a brighter moment at the end of a very dark day for pro cycling, in which several riders already took to social media to share their thoughts on the situation that has developed today and all across the last three weeks, where the riders were also endangered on multiple occasions.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike's hotel became the scene for the unofficial podium ceremony, taking place at the hotel's parking lot. All of the jersey winners joined the small makeshift party, and it was possible to gather some pictures to wrap up the race with the classification winners, individually and separately.
