Stage 4 of the 2024 Itzulia Basque Country was rocked this afternoon by a shocking crash in the peloton that saw a number of the biggest riders in the world caught up and in serious pain.
The likes of Remco Evenepoel and Jonas Vingegaard were among those worst affected, both leaving the race in an ambulance and rushing off to a local hospital, with the latter being stretchered into the ambulance whilst on oxygen.
Race leader, Primoz Roglic was also caught up in the incident and has left the race. In a positive image however, the BORA - hansgrohe leader showed the cameras as thumbs up as he departed in the team car.
