Milano-Sanremo will be remembered as one of the most exciting finales in recent years. The stakes were as high as ever, and we take a look into the final kilometer of the race which saw
Jasper Philipsen win in a millimetric sprint against Michael Matthews.
UAE Team Emirates pushed the pace very hard in the final climbs of the day; Tadej Pogacar attacked the Poggio twice; Matej Mohoric attacked at the end of the descent and Tom Pidcock attacked inside the final kilometer. Every single attack had to be closed by someone and only an elite group remained at the head of the race.
Lidl-Trek brought it back in the final kilometers into a sprint, and Jasper Philipsen was the strongest at the end of the day, beating Michael Matthews by a very short margin. Tadej Pogacar sprinted to third ahead of Pedersen.
