23-year old Paul Lapeira took his first pro win today at the Classic Loire Atlantique, surprising the competition in the hilly day of racing with an impressive solo move.
Lapeira's attack came with 20 kilometers to go in the French classic; moving away from a large group that had split several times throughout the day. Although many riders put on a chase, there was never the firepower to cancel the move of the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale rider; who arrived at the finish with 19 seconds of lead over the chasing group and won the race. Tom van Asbroeck sprinted to second behind, followed by Emmanuel Morin.
