VIDEO: Team Visma | Lease a Bike sans Jonas Vingegaard recon Tour de France gravel stage in Troyes

With Olav Kooij and Cian Uijtdebroeks leading an injury-hit Team Visma | Lease a Bike at the 2024 Giro d'Italia, those not in Italy or not injured, have been doing some reconnaissance of the upcoming Tour de France's controversial gravel stage.

Although the likes of Steven Kruijswijk, Dylan van Baarle, Tiesj Benoot and Sepp Kuss can all be seen in the video posted to Team Visma | Lease a Bike's official social media pages, two-time back-to-back Tour de France winner, Jonas Vingegaard is notably absent from the recon. The Dane is instead currently resting up and recuperating following a nasty crash at the Itzulia Basque Country that left him with a fractured collarbone, fractured rib(s) and a pneumothorax.

Despite the brutal injury list Vingegaard received in that crash however, Team Visma | Lease a Bike are reportedly still optimistic that their leader will return to the Tour de France later this summer. “Winning the Tour will be difficult for Jonas, but it is certainly not impossible,” sports director Merijn Zeeman told Wielerflits recently. “He is busy every day with his rehabilitation under the guidance of our medical staff and physiotherapists. We will certainly keep open the possibility that he will make it to the start of the Tour in Florence. Jonas is extremely talented and we know that he also recovers extremely quickly.”
