The last monument of the cycling season is being held this Saturday, October 11, at
Il Lombardia 2025.
Tadej Pogacar was the man to beat in the race and he did not disappoint, launching one individual attack that managed to see all of his competition get dropped.
UAE Team Emirates - XRG comfortably controlled the race throughout the day, not worrying about the presence of a very strong Quinn Simmons in the head of the race, and taking the climbs conservatively into the Passo di Ganda. No-one tried to surprise beforehand outside of the breakaway men, and once the climb began Rafal Majka and Jay Vine set an incredibly high pace that cut the group down to about half a dozen riders.
And then with 37 kilometers to go, as if on cue, Tadej Pogacar accelerated up the climb when he was alone with Remco Evenepoel, Isaac del Toro, Jay Vine, Michael Storer and Paul Seixas. There was no response, and a few kilometers later he would catch and drop Simmons en route to a fifth victory in the final monument of the season.
