The big question ahead of stage 17 of the 2025
Giro d'Italia was whether or not the GC riders would attack on the mid-stage Mortirolo. Well, they waited until near the top, but when
Richard Carapaz finally made his move, it was a big one.
In the GC group, Carapaz made his move at around 2km to go on the climb, dropping his main rivals
Isaac del Toro and
Simon Yates, putting the Maglia Rosa very much in play. With just 12 seconds lead at the top of the climb though, Carapaz was by no means off in the distance as he started his descent. The question now is, can he keep it going?
