Einer Rubio took a precious victory after overtaking Thibaut Pinot and Jefferson Cepeda at the top of Crans-Montana. The Movistar Team rider was the smartest of the class, he let his two rivals kill each other with attacks during the climb and finished them off in the final meters.
After reaching the finish line, the Chiquiza-born rider received a very special congratulations from the maglia rosa. Geraint Thomas, once he entered the finish line with Joao Almeida and Primoz Roglic, went to Rubio, shook his hand and congratulated him.
